Sport at SHS

Sport is an integral and mandatory part of the school’s curriculum for students in Years 7-10. Sport for Year 11 students becomes optional at the conclusion of summer sport in Term 1.

Sylvania High School conducts its sports program each Thursday afternoon. The sport year is divided into 2 seasons – summer sport (Terms 4 and 1) and winter sport (Terms 2 & 3). Students participate in their selected sport for the duration of the sports season and then re-select for the next season. All selections are made online.

Students are given the choice of a wide range of both grade (competitive) and recreational sports. The following sports are currently available for selection:

Year 7 Sport

Year 7 sport is organised by the Sports Coordinator for Terms 1, 2 and 3. During this time, students will participate in a rotation of the following sports on school grounds.

  • Theatre Sports
  • Basketball
  • Oztag
  • Futsal

Year 7 students continue their participation in these structured activities until the summer sport season starts in late August.
