The Sylvania High School SRC unit is a peer elected group which represents the students of Sylvania High School. Our SRC provides authentic opportunities for students to develop and exercise their leadership skills within the school environment.
The school conducts its sports program each Thursday afternoon and students are given the choice of a wide range of both grade and recreational sports.
Career Education at Sylvania High School is concerned with assisting students to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for them to be able to make informed decisions about school and post school education, training and employment options and to enable effective participation in paid and non-paid life activities.
NSW Department of Education schools develop Student Volunteering and Service Learning activities to allow students to explore local issues of concern and make a difference. By participating in community volunteering activities, young people have an opportunity to learn and demonstrate care, respect and responsibility. Volunteering enables students to participate and interact in their community in a positive and meaningful way. The experience develops skills and confidence in communication and team work. Students will be encouraged to talk about their participation in volunteering activities, and to reflect on the impact of their contribution.
There are numerous opportunities for students to become involved in Dance. Our facilities are of an excellent standard and are well utilised by our various dance groups.
Debating is one of the many areas of the extra-curricular life at Sylvania High School that allows our students the opportunity to improve their communication skills in this academic pursuit.
Each year Sylvania High School enters a team in the Mock Trial Competition. The Mock Trial Competition is conducted by the Law Society of NSW and is a practical means of introducing students to the law and to increase understanding of the basis of our judicial system.
