Sylvania High School P&C have a proud tradition of working in collaboration with the staff and students of our school to achieve the best possible learning outcomes for all students. The Community of Schools across the Waters (CoSAW) is a group of schools who believe in common goals, shared leadership and exciting learning opportunities for the families and children in their area. The four schools focus on learning where students regularly show their knowledge and understanding about key concepts in science, maths, the environment, technology, the humanities and performing arts.
At Sylvania High School we believe a positive attitude, determination and perseverance are the foundations for future success and we base this success on two core values: Respect and Responsibility.
The story of Sylvania High School is one of endurance, at times survival, but importantly one of success. It is the story of a small school seeking to make a name for itself in the competitive environment of education in the Sutherland Shire of Southern Sydney.
The school’s origins are humble, much like the suburb itself that was to become the gateway to the Shire. Over the decades, Sylvania has changed from a mostly rural area on the edge of the bush to prime real estate in Sydney’s property boom.
Getting to Sylvania High School is easy no matter where you live. The school is well serviced by both State and Transdev bus routes that transport students directly to the school and link to the City Rail timetable. On turning 16 years of age students using a youth opal card (which gives concession fares) are required by Transport NSW to carry a senior secondary student concession card at all times when travelling on public transport. These cards are available from reception.
