After 38 years of devoted service to the Sylvania High School community, Mr Don King has officially retired. Mr King has been an Industrial Arts teacher who has taught a range of practical subjects from Metal Work to Construction and his leadership has impacted profoundly on thousands of students during his career. His legacy to the school is probably most tangible in the many construction projects that he has initiated and led with teams of students to improve the capital infrastructure of the school. Last Wednesday his colleagues and students presented him with a plaque to commemorate his contributions to our school. The plaque reads, “In recognition of Don King’s 38 years of outstanding teaching service in Metal work and Construction at Sylvania High School. This plaque commemorates his inspirational and outstanding leadership in the development of facilities for our students. August 18 2013” In what has become a tradition for recent retirees, Mr King is pictured here ringing the school bell to dismiss the assembly for the last time. Mr King will continue to work with our students on a full time basis unitl the end of this year and hopefully in a casual capacity beyond 2013.Thank you, Mr King!
