Japanese Immersion Day

30 March 2011

In late March our school hosted a languages day for Sylvania Heights Primary students, Wollongong University students and our own Year 7 students. This event was part of the grant won by the school from the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program.

The immersion day exposed students to the Japanese language through structured activities in origami, karate, Japanese art & culture and through technology. To fill their tummies a traditional barbeque was provided. Feedback from students indicated they enjoyed the activities of the day.

More immersion days are planned with Sylvania Public and Taren Point Public our partner schools of the Community of Schools Acrosss the Waters.
