Year 11 soccer superstar Hayden M has just finished representing Australia in the U17 World Cup qualifying tournament in Uzbekistan. The ‘Joeys’ had beaten East Timor, Vietnam, Japan and the United Arab Emirates in a nail-biting extra time finish after being 2 nil down in the march to the finals.
However, in the semi final against the home team, Uzbekistan, in front of some 34, 000 parochial fans, Hayden’s team went down 2-1 after a torrid affair in what looked like a very hot and dusty pitch as it streamed onto staff and student computers across the Internet last Thursday night. Well done to Hayden and all the young men representing us overseas in this soccer tournament. We are very proud of your effort and success.
