Sylvania High School’s Year 11 Mock Trial team continues its winning ways and is now in the final 8 schools of the Law Society of NSW run competition.
The team has progressed through the competition since February and takes pride in proving that their comprehensive, state high school is a match for the private and selective high schools. The team has beaten such schools as: Danebank, St George Girls and The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS). On Monday 19 September the team competed against The Scots College at Bellevue Hill and was victorious.
Our team was the Defence against a charge of murder. They successfully pleaded self-defence and won the case for the accused, but more importantly they won the Mock Trial which gives marks for advocacy, legal knowledge, legal writing and observation of Court protocols.
Our successful team is: H Diviney, C English-White, A Lorenz, A Oluk, L Redston and A Rigg.
The quarter finals will occur in early Term 4. Good luck team. We are proud of you.
